There is a critical lack of child care in the greater Grand Island area. For every 100 children under the age of six, there are only 32 child care spots available. We have the only plan that addresses the addition of quality, reduced fee, 24-hour child care slots in Grand Island. Low-income families in the greater Grand Island area are especially burdened and are facing barriers to success because they lack stable child care and other beneficial knowledge and skills.
THE BIG PICTURE
By providing our participants with the support and education they need, our entire community stands to benefit greatly. First, employers of adults in our program will take note when their employees are regularly on time and miss less work overall. Employers will also see an improvement in their employees' focus and performance because the parents mind will be at ease knowing their children are safe and well cared for. We believe both of these factors will help reduce turn-over and absenteeism in the workplace. The local economy will see boosts, too. When our participants embrace the content from our empirically-based educational and support programs, they will gain skills and knowledge that allow them to be conscientious consumers of goods and services throughout the community.
